Recommended Foam Block Kayak Pads for Use In Truck Bed
Question:
Hello, Can you tell me which foam blocks would work best for a kayak that will be placed in a truck bed and up on the tailgate. Thank you.

Typically foam blocks like the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier # MPG152 are designed to be placed on crossbars, but you could use them flat on the truck bed like you've mentioned and they'd do just fine. These pads are 18" long so they'll provide you with a good deal of protection for the bottom of the boat.
You're likely going to want to secure the boat with something like the etrailer Cam Buckle Cinch Straps w/ Buckle Protectors - 1" x 13' - 293 lbs - Qty 4 # E98876-4 to make sure that the boat is tied into place, as well. Depending on the length of the truck bed and boat, you also may want to use a bed extender like the Erickson Big Bed Load Extender for 2" Hitches - 400 lbs # EM07600, which will give some extra support to the rear of the boat and spots to tie down.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out, as well.
