Hitch Extensions and Utility Lights

Question:

I am looking for a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 hitch extension. My tailgate hits my trailer jack and cant open all the way. Only seem to be finding reducing ones. Also looking for a recommendation for a light to mount to the back of my enclosed trailer to help with backing up in the dark and to use as a work light. Wanting to be able to turn on/off from inside the truck. Any recommendations and wiring that would be need is appreciated. Thank you

While we do not sell hitch extenders for 2-1/2" receivers, we may have a solution for you.

Since most hitch extenders will reduce your towing capacity (usually by 50%), a better alternative is to use a longer ball mount for getting the clearance you need for your tailgate. I've linked to a list of our 2" ball mounts since they have more range than 2-1/2" ball mounts. To use one of these with your 2-1/2" receiver, simply use the B&W Hitch Adapter, part # BWRHXA2182, which I've linked to a video review of.

As for the light, we don't carry any lights that are designed to do what you want with them, but we have ways of working around that. Instead of using a single light, I recommend going with two: one that is wired to your reverse lights, and one that is wired to a switch.

For the reverse light, I recommend the GloLight LED Backup Light, part # BUL111CFPG. It's a surface mount light that is very bright. I've linked to a video review of this light for you to look.

For the work light, I recommend the Ultra Bright LED Flood Light, part # 3371492196. This is as bright as it gets. If you wire it inline with a switch like part # PK34571, you'll be able to toggle it on and off whenever you need. I've linked to a video review of this light so you can see how bright it is.
