In regards to installing the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers part # ETBC7 on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500, the duplex wire does need to be run from the rear trailer connector to the front of truck, inside the cab and to the battery. The two circuits within said wire are for the battery charge line and electric trailer brake output. I can't really speculate on a specific install but when I have installed these in the past I have run the wire either inside the driver frame or just attached to the drive frame and then stopped under the driver side floor. There should be an opening in the frame around that area. There should also be a grommet you can remove to run one of the wires into the cab and then the other can be run all the way under and into the engine bay.
