Question:

My truck only has a 4 way from the factory I have it wired to a 7 way and works fine for turn / light but just bought a fifth wheel and need the aux and electric brakes. Is there anything I can do without running the wires all the way up the frame. I have the plug in under the dash for the for the electric brakes but I guess it gos to nothing. Thank you advance for any help you can give me

The brake controller port you have found in your 2005 Dodge Ram doesn't go all the way back to the rear of your vehicle, it stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. In order to finalize the installation you must splice into this wire and continue it back to the plug. I attached a picture that shows what the wire looks like in the harness.

I also attached an FAQ that details how to install a brake controller in a truck like yours.

If you need the 12 volt power circuit to be functional on your 7-way you will need to run a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot), through a 40 amp circuit breaker like # PK54540 to the positive post of the battery.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. The needed install harness is the part # 3020-P.
