Are There Electric Trailer Brakes for Boat Trailers
Question:
Is there an electric BOAT trailer brake system available?

Expert Reply:
You can use electric trailer brakes on a boat trailer, though there aren't specific electric brakes made specifically for a boat trailer. Instead, what you'll need to do is disconnect the electric brakes (which you can do by just unplugging the 7-way) before backing the trailer into the water, and make sure the wired connections are properly sealed to reduce the risk of shorts.
If you'd like to use electric brakes on your boat trailer, you'll need to determine the brake assemblies that will fit your trailer. For this you need to know your axle's weight capacity, your mounting flange bolt pattern and the inside diameter and depth of your drum.
For example, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 are for 3,500 lb axles, measure 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide (so that is the drum size they fit in) and fit a 4-bolt mounting flange that has bolt holes which measure 2-7/8" apart on center like Mounting Flange # 4-35.
I have added a link below to our entire selection of electric brakes for you to come back to once you know this information, or you can let me know your axle capacity, flange, and drum size and I will be happy to find the right parts for you.
