Replacing Foot Pad On Lippert 6-Point Level-Up System - 132 Ft-lb Torque Requirement + Loctite
Question:
In a previous answer to Steven G etrailer reported, For the 6-point Level-Up System by Lippert, I made a call to the manufacturer to ensure you would receive correct information. Lippert said that when you bolt the footpads to the jacks, you need to torque them to 132 ft-lb. They said to make sure to use Loctite Threadlocker 262 - High Strength - Up to 3/4inch Nuts/Bolts - 0.20-Fl-Oz Tube, # LT37420 on the footpad bolts and do not try to remove the bolt once it is tightened as removing the bolt could result in damage to the cylinder.inch I received the footpad and parts to replace my bent footpad. But after reading your instructions, Im now nervous to remove the bolt holding on the bent footpad possibly causing damage to the cylinder... Am I actually risking damage to the cylinder by removing the factory installed bolt? Second question: If in the future the pad gets bent - does using Loctite now void any possibly of replacing the footpad a second time?

I understand your concern. I called Lippert to verify that the 132 Ft-lb of torque and use of Locktite is still valid. They said that was the requirement and there were no alternative instructions. The assumption is that this is the method they used for installation and that by removing the foot pad you will run the risk of damaging the cylinder. If you need to remove it in the future the only way to release it after red Loctite is used would be by applying heat.
I also verifed the order that bolts, washers, and o-rings are installed. It is bolt, then washer, then o-ring, then through the foot pad, add second o-ring, then into jack. I have included a picture illustrating this.
I have included links to a torque wrench and Loctite if you need them.
