Cargo Carrier Compatible With 1-1/4 Inch Class I Trailer Hitch on Camper

Question:

I have a 2002 Rockwood Freedom popup camper that already has a hitch on it, but when I tried to mount my existing hitch cargo carrier old one similar to etrailer, but not yours - I bought it before I found you it did not work. Apparently the receiver has a small bead on one side to prevent unauthorized products from being mounted? Is this how non-RV/trailer rated products are prevented from use? Do I have to buy a different hitch cargo carrier?

While I can't tell from the photo, what it sounds like you have is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. Some hitches had a "stop" that prevented the use of non-Class I accessories to be used (though that is increasingly uncommon now) so I am guessing that is what you have.

What that means is you will need a cargo carrier that is rated for Class I use. For a carrier that is 46" x 17" and has raised up side rails for lots of options for tie-down points you can use the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145.

For a carrier that is slightly larger at 47" x 20" but has the raised sides you will need the Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155.

I have added links below to video reviews of both carriers for you to check out as well.
