How To Install 7-Way Connector On 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
My 2016 subaru has a curt hitch mounted to the vehicle but need guidance as to how to make it towable for my 2016 tear camper? I think it needs a 7 way connector something like that in order to use the brake system on the camper itself. We are new to the towing/camping world, so definitely need some guidance. Here is a photo of what my unit looks like. Thank you for your help.

To install a 7-way connector on your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon you will first need a 4-way vehicle wiring harness. I recommend adding the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467 as it is custom made to plug into the factory harness of your vehicle. You also need the etrailer # ETBC7 adapter to convert your 4-way connector to a 7-way connector. I included an installation video of the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467 on a 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon for you.
Since you mentioned that the trailer you plan on towing has trailer brakes, you will need a trailer brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it will work with trailers up to 4 axles, and has an easy to read LCD screen. I attached a video showing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 installed on a Subaru Outback Wagon for you to take a look at.
I also included a few articles to help you will help you get started towing.
