Trailer Light Remain On At All Times When Connected to My 2009 Hyundai Entourage

Question:

Does a wire remain constantly hot in the flat 4 connector? My trailer lights remain on and can only be turned off by disconnecting from towing vehicle

There should not be any wires that remain hot at all times at the 4 pole connector. If the taillight circuit is left on then the trailers taillight bulb would be on constantly but otherwise the lights should all go out when the taillights are off and the breaks and turn signals are not on.

You will need to use a circuit tester, part number 3808 if you need one, to test the trailer wiring harness on the vehicle and see which wire is remaining hot at all times. Once you have the wire located at the connector move behind the converter on the wiring harness (closer to vehicle taillight) and test that wire. If it is hot there at all times then there is a problem with the vehicle wiring or the connector. If it is not hot there at all times then there is a problem in the converter and you will need to change the wiring harness out.
