Electric Radiator Fan Recommendations for a 2008 Chrysler Aspen with 5.7L Engine
Question:
I have a 2008 Chrysler Aspen and would like to replace the stock radiator fan and shroud with an electric setup. How can I determine which fan/shroud setup would give me adequate cfm output for the 5.7L engine 4wd model? Ive been looking at D16919 and D16927 and dont know which would be adequate. Also, would I have to buy an automatic thermostat with these models or does one come with the kit? And will power be supplied to the fans and thermostats with ignition switch being turned on, or are they hard wired to battery?

Is the fan set up currently on your 2008 Chrysler Aspen belt driven? In any event you will need to determine if it is pushing air or pulling air. The fans that you have referenced, # D16927, and # D16919 are for puller applications only. What I recommend is going with the most CFM that you can in a fan or fans that will fit in the space provided. You do not always have to remove the factory set up in order to install an electric fan. You just have to make sure that the aftermarket fan is not working against the factory setup.
For a fan you will probably want to add a thermostat and/or switch kit depending on how you want it wired. a Thermostat kit like # D16735 will kick on the fan at 180 degrees. To control it yourself you could use a switch like # D16740 but if you forgot to switch it on then the vehicle could overheat.
