What is Difference Between Redarc Tow Pro Elite and Tow-Pro Liberty
Question:
I have a 2007 Lexus GX470 and I need to get a trailer brake controller for it. I believe Ive settled on the Redarc Tow-Pro, but I dont know which one to get. There is a $74 difference. I will be towing a single axle Opus OP4 camper trailer that weighs 2870 lbs. Also, would this set up be plug and play with the Lexus? It does have a 7-pin connector in the back by the hitch.

Expert Reply:
The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR is the way to go over the Elite # RED44FR as you get the nicer functions of the Elite at a lower price. The Elite has the ability to be the more preferred proportional style of controller as well as a time-delayed whereas the Liberty gives you just the proportional setting which is what you'd want to use with your towing setup. Proportional controllers sense how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes whereas time delayed means it puts a preset amount of braking pressure that ramps up over time every time you touch the vehicle brakes.
So to install this in your 2007 Lexus GX 470 all you need is the parts # 3040-P and # 331-TPH-017 and you'd be set.
