Does the Trailer Tongue have to be Cut at an Angle to a Install Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit
Question:
I just ordered this coupler, but I want to cut the tongue before it arrives as I need to get the boat into the garage this week. Is it true that you can just do a straight cut? I do have the tools to make a proper angle cut and it seems it might be somewhat stronger and tighter that way. Do you know that the angle is? Would cutting it at the proper angle help the fit?

When installing the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit, # FHDPB330301, you will just cut the tongue straight across. You can cut it at an angle if you really wanted to but it is not required. because of subtle tolerances it would be best to use the hinge kit as a template to get the best angle so you would want to wait until you have it to do so.
Make sure to get the right pivot length for your trailer tongue weight and gross trailer weight. I have included a picture that should help.
