Weight Capacity of Load Range D Trailer Tire in Size ST225/75-15
Question:
I am getting quotes for a new car hauler. All the quotes include ST225/15 D tires for a 10K GVW trailer. This seems inadequate when load range D is only 1220 pounds load per tire or 4880 for four. Are load range ratings different for ST tires with the stiffer sidewalls?

Expert Reply:
For the tire size ST225/75-15 in the Load Range D like the part # 274-000029 the weight capacity is 2,540 lbs at 65 psi. Which with just four of these you'd be over the 10k GVWR of the trailer you mentioned so you should be fine.
