Do Snow Plow Mounts on 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Need to be Removed to Add Base Plates

Question:

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a Fisher Minute Mount 2 plow and the pushbars for the plow are mounted to the frame where the base plate needs to be mounted. I have a Roadmaster Stowmaster tow bar. Do I need to remove the plow mounts and install the base plates for the tow bar or is there an adapter that attaches to the plow mounts? It seems like the plow mounts would be suitable for connecting the tow bar to?

In order to flat tow your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 you will need to remove the snowplow mounts to install base plates, as plow mounts are not designed or tested to withstand flat towing. You can use your Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501, though you will need the crossbar-style base plates from Roadmaster with this tow bar.

Along with the base plates, here are the other parts you'll need to flat tow your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-3176-1
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243

You may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-070 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters.

Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
