Curt C13410 vs. Draw Tite 76227 Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2015 Subaru Outback

Question:

Between the Curt C13410 and the Draw Tite 76227 which one protrudes past the rear bumper more? By how much of a difference? Is it possible to catch a leg/knee on either if they stick out past the bumper? Do you have a preference between the two? -Thank You!

There is very little difference in bumper clearances between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76227 and Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410 that fit your 2015 Subaru Outback. You aren't going to hit a knee on either, as the face of the hitch on both is about equal to the bumper.

The biggest difference we saw between these two hitches when we test fit them on a '15 Outback was that the Curt hitch offered about an inch more ground clearance than the Draw-Tite, but otherwise the hitches were very much the same. They both install the same way and have the same 6,000 lb towing / 400 lb tongue weight capacity, so the ground clearance is the only real difference-maker.

And clearance from the ground can be pretty important for things like a bike rack or cargo carrier, so because of that added ground clearance I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410.

Additionally, if you are going to be doing some towing with your Outback and need a wiring harness, the correct part is the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11143885.
