Lighting and Tow Bar Compatibility for 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Towed Behind Tiffin Allegro RV

Question:

I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door Unlimited that I want to set up for towing behind my new 2013 Tiffin Allegro RV. I have a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar and Cross Bar system and a RM 9400 Even Brake that I used on my 2003 Jeep Liberty towed by my old 1999 Holiday Rambler Admiral RV for only about 2K miles. I know I need: 11429-1 Roadmaster Base Plate Kit 1 RM-98400 Roadmaster Even Brake 2nd Vehicle Kit 1 RM 765 Roadmaster Auto Battery Disconect Kit 1 RM751423 Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Question 1 Will the Sterling Cross Bar mate up to the 1429-1 Base Plate? Question 2 Can the RM 155 Tail Light kit be used? It appears to me Bulb placement on the wrangler tail light system is very slim. Question 3 Is the RM 781124 Tail Light Kit a better choice for this application?

It sounds like you have a very good handle on what you need.

The Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar you referenced is indeed compatible with the # 1429-1 base plate kit. The # 1429-1 base plate is the correct base plate kit for your Wrangler Unlimited, as long as it is NOT equipped with the optional Mopar front skid plate.

The # RM-155 bulb and socket kit is recommended by Roadmaster for use in the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited. The bulb will be fairly tight fit. The overwhelming benefit of the bulb and socket system is that it remains completely independent of the wiring of the towed vehicle.

The Blue Ox kit provides wiring to reach the front of the vehicle, but you will need connectors and an umbilical. If your RV has a 4-pole connector, use part # BX8861 or part # BX88254 if your RV has a 7-way.

The Hopkins # HM56200 you mentioned is also a good choice. It is simple to install and will not require drilling into the vehicle tail light assemblies. However, it will be tied into the wiring system of the Wrangler. If you use the Hopkins system, you will need a brake light relay, part # RM-88400 to prevent the brake signal from your towed car from overriding the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns.

According to my research, the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited 2WD with manual transmission is capable of being flat towed without modification. 2WD automatic transmission-equipped models will need a transmission lube pump. 4WD models with a neutral position in the transfer case are flat towable, but AWD models should be trailered only. Please confirm the flat towability of your vehicle by consulting the owners manual or Jeep.

Although you sound like a flat towing veteran, I will link you to some flat towing FAQ articles that you might find helpful.
