Can a 7-Pole and 4-Pole Connector be Mounted Vertically?
Question:
Can this connector be installed with the 7 way down and the 4 way up? I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with factory tow and the way it is configured makes for a touchy connection as the plug is upside down when connected.

The Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket # HM40975 technically can be mounted in any orientation that fits on the back of your vehicle and or suits your needs. However, it is better if the plug is horizontal due to there being less of chance for water, dirt, or other debris getting into the connectors. Not using the included mounting bracket will also require drilling and possibly the fabrication of a custom bracket to mount it in the orientation you want it to be, but that should be fairly straight forward if you have any experience doing so. It is also a good idea to use dielectric grease on this connector if you mount it in a different orientation.
