Solution to Allow Curt Echo Brake Controller to Work Better with 2020 Ford F-150
Question:
My Curt wireless break controller that I purchased from e-trailer is showing that it is not getting 12 volts from my 2019 F-150. The light is not lit on the controller and the app does not show the controller being active. When I connect it to any other truck it works just fine. I took my truck to the dealer and they claim the plug is working fine. Please help

The newer Ford trucks with the Smart Tow package can be challenging to work with the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 since the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way isn't active like normal trailer connectors. So the easiest way around that is to bypass this circuit and run it directly to your battery's positive post. To do that you'd want 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) ran from the 1:00 pin of your 7-way to a breaker like part # 9510 and then to the positive post of your battery and you'd be set.
