Why Does Trailer Wiring Harness for 2007 Jeep Liberty Require Converter Box

can you splice directly into the vehicle original wiring harness and install a 4 pin trailer harness? not use the T connector harness

The reason you can't wire a 4-way directly to the taillight wiring of your 2007 Jeep Liberty is because your vehicle has the stop lights and turn signals on separate bulbs which trailer wiring has these circuits on combined bulbs.
That's why you need a kit like the part # 118524.
