Adding Transmission Fluid After Installing Transmission Cooler on 2013 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L

Question:

Hello, I am looking at installing a transmission cooler on my 2013 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4 cylinder truck. Will I need to add more transmission fluid after install even if no fluid leaks out?

Because adding an auxiliary transmission cooler and additional hose length extends the overall cooling system, it is likely that you will need to add a bit more transmission fluid even if no fluid is lost during installation. Often adding a cooler requires adding somewhere between 1/2 pink up to 1 quart of additional fluid.

It is a good idea to add fluid a little at a time, testing the dip stick as you go along, until the system no longer indicates it is low on fluid.

If you have room for it, the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503 is a great, large size cooler for your Tacoma. This cooler measures 11 inches W x 8-3/4 inches T x 7/8 inches D.

I have attached a link to all of the transmission coolers for your Tacoma with 2.7L I4 engine.
