Correct Placement of Support Brackets for Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System
Question:
i have a curt distribution hitch and the channel brackets can be placed either more then or less then 4. should i place it more then 4 from the end of the spring bar

For your Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control, like part # C17500, the support brackets need to be installed 4" in from the end of the spring bars. I'm not quite sure where you're seeing more or less than 4" as the instructions are specific to this measurement as you can see in the attached clip.
If you were to install the brackets in a different spot then the weight distribution system wouldn't perform as well plus it could be bad for both the system and your trailer frame. Should there be something sitting in the way at the 4" then I would go slightly towards the hitch ball as opposed to further away because then you run the risk of the bar falling out on sharper turns.
