Preventing Bike Movement on the Topline RV Ladder Mount Bike Rack

Question:

We have a 5th Wheel Cardinal 27 foot with the ladder rack on the left side. I bought a Topline Rack that has the V blocks on the bars thats made for 2 bikes. I have tried to mount these bike horzonitally with my best ability to secure them. To no avail. This type of mounting to the rack extends the bikes 3/4 of the wheel out from the back of the 5th wheel. We just returned from 160 mile trip hauling the bikes and they moved all over the rack. I have trouble securing the bikes to the V blocks. Can you give me some good advice

Part of the problem might be that you are loading the bikes horizontally instead of vertically, Loading the bikes vertically will reduce or eliminate how much they overhang to the side of the 5th wheel. If little or no part of the bikes are sticking off to the side and susceptible to wind, they are less likely to move.

Also, make sure the straps are as tight as you can get them. The tighter the straps are the less likely the bikes are to move. If possible, add another strap like # 753-2030-03, loop it through the lower wheels on both bikes, and tie it off to something solid on the back of the trailer.
