Are Longer Shackle Straps Needed When Using Equa-Flex Equalizer LC279687 To Replace 6-1/6 Equalizer

I purchased the LC279687 cushioned equalizer to replace the solid triangular equalizer on my 2017 Jayco 212, but havent yet installed it. Both Lippert and Etrailer techs assured me it would work despite modest differences in both width and height stock equalizer is 6-1/16inch wide and hangs a bit lower than the LC279687. Can I compensate for these differences with longer shackle straps? The stock straps are 2-1/4inch center to center of bolt holes. I could use either 2-5/8inch or 3-1/4inch straps if appropriate, and have a sufficient quantity of both. Do you have a recommendation? As long as the installed profile of the new equalizer has an approximate shape, allowing the equalizer to do its work, are the fractional discrepancies in dimensions a real issue?

The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers part # LC279687 measures 5-1/2" between the lower two most bolt holes. If you will be using this to replace an equalizer which measures 6-1/6" between the lower two most bolt holes you can and I do recommend installing longer shackle straps in order to offset the difference. If the existing shackle straps are 2-1/4" then I recommend a 2-5/8" part # 115052.
