Unhooking the chains on Reese Weight Distribution Chain Hangers, part # RP58305, has not been a problem for us. We have not had many problems with unhooking the chains, only questions on the proper procedure to removing the chains. The # RP58305 chain hangars do not work the same way as the lift up brackets.
The important things to remember when unhooking these chains is to keep more weight on the jack when jacking up the trailer and to make sure the truck and trailer are in a straight line on level ground.
You will basically want to follow the hooking up procedure for the weight distribution system you will be using only in reverse. The first step should still be jacking up the trailer. With more weight on the jack, it should be much easier to remove the chains.
I am including a link to the instructions on the # RP58305 chain hangars.
