Availability Of Hitch Bike Rack To Fit On the Rear Of a Travel Trailer

Question:

Is the Kuat NV 2.0 bike carrier suitable for use behind a travel trailer? I have a 2-inch hitch adapter that clamps to the standard 4-inch square RV bumper. If this rack is not suitable, can you recommend a platform-style rack that would work in this application? Thanks.

When using a 2-inch hitch adapter that clamps to your 4-inch square RV bumper on a travel trailer you will not want to exceed the limits of your bumper. The bumper towing and tongue capacities may be indicated on the bumper itself, but if not you could check your trailers owner manual or contact the manufacturer of your travel trailer.

Also remember when using a bolt-on adapter your bumper needs to be a 4x4 inch continuous-weld steel bumper. It cannot be used on spot welded or aluminum camper bumpers.

The Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, part # NV22G-NA22G, you have referenced, is not designed for use behind an RV because of the additional forces present at the back of trailers.

I've linked all of the 4 bike racks that are rated for the rear of a RV or motor home like the Swagman 4 Bike Rack, part # S80600. This bike rack attaches to a 4x4 inch continuous-weld steel bumper. It cannot be used on spot welded or aluminum camper bumpers. You will still need to make sure that your bumper will be able to handle the total weight of the bike rack and the bikes.
