Disc Brake Master Cylinder and Bypass Lockout Solenoid for Demco Surge Brake Actuating Coupler

Question:

1. I am converting 12” drum brakes on a 5,000 lb single axle boat trailer to disc. I have a Demco DA66B drum brake actuator. I prefer the bypass style solenoid, so I believe I have a few options: a. New master cylinder with integrated bypass DM5918 b. Disk master cylinder DM5672, bypass solenoid kit field install kit DM5404, and metal solenoid cover DM12267-65. This would require me to drill / tap a hole for the bypass return fitting, but would be about $40 cheaper than a c. However, I noticed you also offer DM5752, which is the master cylinder body with the bypass solenoid already integrated, along with the metal solenoid cover. I would need to reuse the master cylinder cover, fasteners and cap, but I already have those anyway. I’m assuming the DM5752 includes the master cylinder piston and spring, correct? This option would be about ½ the cost of a. Is it correct that DM5752 will work for my conversion? Thanks !

You gave quite a few options, but the Demco Solenoid Kit - Factory Installed - Disc Brakes # DM5752 sill be the best option as you stated. You can reuse your other parts as you stated. This assembly will have the spring and piston as you stated.

If you need help with the axle, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 12" Hub/Rotor - 6 on 5-1/2 - Dacromet - 5,200 lbs to 6,000 lbs # K2HR526D and Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle - 18' # 18SI-BLKIT.
