To install a 7-way trailer connector on your 2008 Honda CR-V, the parts you need will depend on how the trailer is equipped. If the trailer doesn't have brakes, and you don't need a 12-volt power feed to maintain a trailer mounted battery, you'd install a # 118427 wiring harness to provide lighting functions then use a # 37185 adapter. Plug the adapter into the plug provided by the # 118427 and ground the white wire to the vehicle's frame or chassis. The remaining wires could be bundled up out of the way.

If the trailer has brakes, you'll need to install a brake controller. For the ease of installation, I'd recommend going with the Curt Echo # C51180 Wireless Brake Controller. You'll need to begin with the # 118427 mentioned above. You'd then need our # ETBC7L brake controller installation kit. The kit includes the adapter mentioned above, plus the wire and needed circuit breaker to make the wiring run to the positive battery terminal.

The Curt Echo will utilize your smart phone to provide the controls, so there's nothing needing to be wired in the passenger cab.

The Curt # 13555 hitch would be an excellent choice. You'll also need a ball mount like # 2753 and a # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.

I've linked you to some installation videos that you might find helpful.
