Can The Bulldog Powered-Drive Trailer Jack # BD500199 be Installed in a 90 Degree Orientation

Question:

In order to allow my tailgate to and clear the motor housing, I would need to mount the Bulldog 4000 ninety degrees from facing front right or left. Can this happen because there are extra holes in the mounting plate or by repositioning the motor housing on the shaft? Also, what is the dimension from shaft to the outside of the motor housing?

Expert Reply:

There is no reason why you could not turn the jack at a 90 degree angle to gain more clearance. Due to the configuration of the holes in the mounting flange, you might need to drill new holes in your trailer tongue to mount the jack in that configuration.

The motor housing cannot be repositioned on the shaft.

Bulldog tells me that the edge of the motor housing is 1 inch away from the side of the jack tube, as shown in the photo I edited for you.
