Troubleshooting Curt Echo Signaling "Overload" Warning on 2015 Cadillac Escalade
Question:
Have used the Echo several times with no issues on our 2015 Escalade. Now receiving Electrical overload warning when I apply the brakes. Adjusted the max output to Level 2 and no longer receive the warning, but when I adjust the max output to Level 12, I immediately receive the Electrical overload warning when applying the brakes. It works fine in my 2015 Silverado set at any max output level.

The Curt Echo # C51180 Troubleshooting Guide offers three possible solutions to the resolve the "Overload" issue.
1. Reconnect the trailer connector.
2. Confirm vehicle 7-way connections and wiring.
3, Check trailer brake wiring for short circuits.
The first possible solution is the easiest one to start with, but it sounds like you've already tried unplugging and re-plugging the trailer connector.
If you were testing the Echo on your Silverado and your Escalade using the same trailer, this indicates that the issue isn't on the trailer side, since you received no error on the Silverado even at the highest brake output setting, and that only leaves us with the 7-way connector on your Escalade.
Disconnect the Echo and clean any dirt or debris on both the Escalade's and the Echo's 7-way connector. Always make sure to use dielectric grease # 11755 for all electrical connections. Next, check for any bent, damaged, or corroded pins. You can use # A10-7072VP to replace the connector, if necessary. Behind the connector, check the brake wire (see diagram) as well as the ground wire and repair or replace if they are damaged or frayed.
If you're still having the same issue after performing these steps, please let me know so we can continue to troubleshoot until the issue is resolved.
