Will Using 80232 Hidden Hitch 15 Inch Long Ball Mount Damage the Hitch

Question:

I bought a new enclosed car hauler, they put on a 14 inch extension. It looks like its putting a lot of downward stress on the hitch. Im afraid it will split the bottom of the hitch. Is this something I should be concerned about?

If by '14 inch extension', you're referring to the # BM20 ball mount that you'd looked at, you'll be fine as long as the 10,000 lbs towing/1,000 lb tongue weight capacity of the ball mount or the towing/tongue weight capacity of the hitch itself isn't exceeded.

I'd recommend you do a quick check of the trailer's tongue weight when it's fully loaded. You can do so using a tongue weight scale like # e99044, or by one of the other methods listed in the help article I've linked for you. Please check this immediately if you think the tongue weight is causing the hitch to deflect in any way.

If you click the provided link, you can view a product description video featuring this ball mount and an additional video for the scale system.
