For your 2020 Subaru Forester, I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver opening, as there's a much greater selection of available hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks and cargo carrying trays for that receiver size. There are two Class III hitch types available for your Forester, one from EcoHitch, part # 306-X7391 that would have the hitch crossbar completely concealed behind the vehicle's bumper leaving only the receiver tube and the safety chain loops visible. The other option would have the entirety of the hitch, crossbar, receiver tube and safety chain loops fully visible like the Curt # C13409 and the Draw-Tite # 76271.

Between the visible choices, I'd personally prefer the Curt, because I've found their powder coating to be a bit nicer and more durable.

As far as choosing between the visible and the mostly concealed hitch options, which to choose will depend on how important the appearance of the hitch is, and whether or not you'd be willing to pay the premium price for the concealed # 306-X7391 EcoHitch model.

If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll need a trailer wiring harness, a ball mount and the proper sized trailer ball to complete your towing system. For a wiring harness, use the # C56040 from Curt. For a ball mount, use # C45010 and for a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch.

I've linked install videos for the hitches and the wiring harness mentioned above.
