Proportional Brake Controller Recommendation for 2019 Nissan Frontier

Question:

I’m looking for a proportional brake controller for a 2019 Nissan Frontier. Preferably a plug and play system that doesn’t break the bank. Any help is appreciated as I am new to this. My last truck had an integrated system. I have a 21ft toy hauler that I pull.

I'd be happy to help you with that. Assuming your truck has the factory tow package, The Curt Echo, part # 51180 would plug into your 7-way trailer connector, and as long as your 12-volt power feed to the trailer connector is active and you have a smart phone with iOS v8.0 or Android 4.4 or newer, you'll just need to download the app onto your phone and you're done. No need to drill holes in the underside of the dash so you can bash your knee on the box later. If you don't have the tow package, you'd just need to install the # C56226 trailer connector harness and the included relay pigtail.

If you'd prefer a more traditional option, the install will still be pretty simple. I really like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160 because of how simple it is to use. The Voyager you'd looked at is a decent choice, but the Primus is about the same price, it self levels and has a digital display that is more intuitive than the simple LED on the Voyager. You'd also need the # 3050-P brake controller harness and if your truck doesn't have the factory trailer connnector, you'll need the # C56226 mentioned above.

Both recommendations above are plug and play installations I've linked you to some installation videos for the products I recommended.
