The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118467 is designed to be stored inside the rear cargo area when not in use and extended through the bottom of the rear hatch door while in use. The harness is pretty weather resistant as long as there are not any exposed wires or frays and the weather stripping on your door will not allow it to be damaged.
However, if you still like the idea of running the harness through the underside of your vehicle, I recommend to find a rubber grommet hole in the rear cargo area and route the harness through there to the hitch. You may need to file the sides of the hole to make it fit. Then you can use a bracket like part # 18144 to keep the wiring harness mounted to the hitch. You may want to fill in the hole with silicone like part # LT37467 to keep exhaust fumes from getting into the vehicle.
