How To Tow An RV Trailer with a Semi Tractor

Question:

Im having this problem with some trailer lights. I have a customer that is running a older Peterbilt truck that has a 7 way round pin semi style plug for trailer lights but they are running a big tex 24 foot trailer that uses updated rv style wiring. the brake lights currently do not work on the trailer because of the difference in wiring. I am wondering what I would need to solve this issue. thanks ,

In order to tow a standard rv trailer with a semi tractor you will need to use an adapter because the stop/turn signals are on the same circuit for a standard rv trailer and different circuits for a semi tractor. That said, they don't really offer an adapter specifically for this but you can make one of your own using the Pollak Heavy-Duty, 7-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector part # PK11700, the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter part # RM-732, and the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket part # PK12-707E.

I have attached a help article for the wiring side of things. This option would then not require you to modify the wiring on either the trailer or tractor.
