How to Determine Ball Mount Rise/Drop For Class III Trailer Hitch on 2006 Honda Element
Question:
I have a 2006 Honda element and just ordered the etrailer hitch e78KR... what receiver do I need to make 18 inch height?

Helpful Expert Reply:
To determine the correct ball height, just figure out the height difference between the inside top of the hitch receiver and the underside of the trailer coupler when the trailer is level, as shown in the help article I've linked to.
When we installed the # e78KR on a Honda Element, the receiver height was right at 13-1/2 inches. A ballmount with a 5 inch rise like # C45336 will put you about level and given the fact that the trailer's tongue weight will compress the rear vehicle suspension to a degree, that will place you very close to perfectly level which is what you want.
