How Do You Know If An RV Propane Regulator Is Bad

Question:

I have a dual tank system and the hose is good, but I get not pressure at the main dual stage regulator. How do I test the regulator

Expert Reply:

The best way to test a propane regulator is by the process of elimination. The reason for this is that there is not really any easy way to test the regulator yourself without certain tools such as a manometer. Therefore, it will be much more convenient to simply rule out other causes such as a bad appliance or faulty hose. Since the hose is still good as you said, odds are the regulator is bad as this is generally one of the more common fail points in a propane system. For replacement, the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # CAM59005 is an excellent option which has an auto-changeover feature so you don't have to worry about switching the tanks over when one gets low or empty.
