Do My Boat Trailer Tires Have Enough Capacity For 1900 Lb Boat

Question:

My boat trailer is from Sea Ray and is a single axle. The current tires are ST175/80D-13. I am not sure these tires are correct due to the weight of my boat which is listed as 1900 lbs. It appears the maximum weight for these tires is around 1600 lbs. What is your advise? Also what is the maximum speed for this tire? Thanks

The Kenda Loadstar ST175/80D13 tires part # AM1ST77 that I believe you are referring to have a 1,610 lb rating per tire. Since you have a single axle, both tires have a capacity of 3,220 lbs together as long as you are inflating them to max PSI of 65 PSI. If your boat trailer and boat setup weighs 1900 lbs then your tires are appropriately sized. I do recommend to have your trailer and boat weighed to make sure you are not exceeding the weight capacity of the two tires though just to be sure. The maximum speed rating for this particular tire is 81 MPH.

Also I used the Kenda tire as an example, if your boat trailer tires are not the Kenda Loadstar ST175/80D13 Load Range D that I mentioned, you may have a different load rating on your particular tire. If you let me know what tires you have I may be able to tell you a capacity for them.
