Snow Chains or Snow Cables for Winnebago Adventurer Motorhome

Question:

I have a Winnebago Adventurer 35F app 20,000lbs motor home with 235/80 22.5 tires and am looking to purchase a set of cables or chains “just in case”. I've seen the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC2039. I’ve also heard the Titan Snow Chains #TC4239 would be a good choice. Which would be best to carry “just in case” their needed. I would like the lighter, easier to install cables but, want to be prepare for actual use when/if actually needed.

For a larger/heavier vehicle like your Winnebago Adventurer, I do recommend going with the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC4239 over a cable type like the Titan Chain Cable style # TC2039 that you mentioned. Even for a "just-in-case" set of chains to have on hand if needed, I would be feel much more comfortable having a set of heavy-duty chains like the Titan units, as they're just going to provide much better traction in the snow/ice than cables. Chains are also going to hold up much better for multiple uses, while the cables would likely only last through a single "just-in-case" application.

Now you did mention the downside of the heavy-duty chains, as they are going to be quite a bit heavier than lightweight cables - but this also speaks to their durability and ability to really dig into the snow during travel. The actual installation process for the Titan chains is still quite simple using the built-in lever and integrated hooks.

They may only be needed once or not at all (which I think you would be okay with), but with tire chains on hand you can absolutely drive with the peace of mind that a little snowfall isn't going to get between you and your destination.
