5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation Between the Curt Q24 Hitch and the Reese Select Plus 20K Hitch
Question:
Considering buying either the Reese 20K 30081 or the Curt Q24K. I already have the bed rails installed that will accept either hitch. I want the best most durable hitch and I want the least movement of the king pin inside the jaws of the hitch. I used to have an older Reese 15K and got alot of slop in the jaw from the pin. Please give me your advice. Thanks

The Curt Q24 Fifth Wheel Hitch, # C16245, and Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30928, will provide more durability and less movement than your Reese 15K hitch. Keep in mind there should be a certain amount of movement of the king pin in the jaw. If the jaw was tight against the king pin, then the jaws could bind or break when turning.
For your situation I would recommend the Curt Q24 Hitch because it uses a 2-jaw locking system that provides 360-degree contact to the king pin. It also comes with a 10 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty offered by Reese and the Curt hitch has a cushioned 360-degree pivoting feature that is designed to give a smooth and quiet ride with less chucking.
The Curt Q24 Hitch will also give you a higher weight capacity of 24,000 lbs. Be sure you check the towing capacity of your vehicle before adding a heavier trailer.
One important note about the Curt Q24 Hitch is that it is not compatible with Sidewinder or Revolution king pins. If you are using a Sidewinder or Revolution pin box, then I would recommend going with the Reese 20K Hitch.
If you can send my the year, make, model and bed size of your vehicle, then I can make better recommendation for your needs.
