Do Trailer Taillights Light Up When Vehicle Presses Brake Pedal

Question:

Pardon, the silly question. Are trailer brake lights supposed to be on like car brake lights and light up more when you push on the brake?

Expert Reply:

Yes, trailer brake lights are supposed to light up brighter when the tow vehicle applies the brakes. They are designed to work just like a vehicle's taillights that have the brake lights and the running lights on the same circuit.

If you check out the review video link I attached you can see how a very standard trailer taillight # ST8RB lights up with the running lights and the stop/turn signal.
