Does Trailer Weight Change Torque Needed for Hub Install

Question:

Does the wait of the camper have anything to do with the torque needed?

When installing a trailer hub like the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # 8-257-5UC3 the weight of the camper does not factor into the torque needed.

In fact, there isn't actually a specific torque for the castle nut. What you do is just tighten until there is no side-to-side play in the hub and then back it off to the next notch in the castle hub. You want to do this because it is important not to overtighten the nut, which can lead to damage.

I have added a link to our selection of trailer hubs if you are looking for one different than the aforementioned Dexter hub.
