Cargo Carrier With a 1-1/4 Inch Shank for a 2010 Subaru Outback

Question:

I need a cargo carrier for my 2010 Subaru Outback with a 1 1/4 shank. I need this carrier to be kind of light weight since I would be putting it on and taking it down myself. I saw this # 63155. How heavy is this carrier or is there another one you would recomend. Thanks

Expert Reply:

The Reese carrier part # 63155, weighs 44 lbs. The lightweight design of this cargo carrier is light enough for one person to remove or mount with ease and is one of our more durable options. This cargo basket should fit your vehicle as long as there is enough clearance from the rear of the bumper to the front of the carrier.

You will want to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch out to the farthest point on your rear bumper. If this measurement is less than 7-1/4 inches then this cargo carrier will fit. You will also want to check the tongue weight capacity of your hitch and make sure you do not exceed that rating. This carrier comes with a standard hitch pin to secure the cargo carrier to your hitch, or for added security the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # TR63254.

We also have the Curt Cargo Carrier, part # C18145, that is 29 lbs. This cargo carrier is lighter, more economical and includes the hitch pin and clip as well. I have included demonstration videos on both cargo carriers to help with your decision.
