Can Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit be Installed so Trailer Tongue Folds Upwards
Question:
Could this hinge be oriented to allow the neck to swing up instead of to the side. The trailer is a galvanized single atv trailer that has a static tongue weight of 121 lbs when loaded and a total loaded trailer weight1,100 lbs when loaded including trailer weight.

The Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for a 3" x 3" Tongue # FHDPB330301 is designed so that the tongue folds away to the side of the trailer. I reached out to my contact at Fulton who confirmed that you shouldn't install it so that the tongue folds up. This would likely be putting too much stress on the hinge bolts as they would be taking on the tongue weight and since this wasn't tested under these circumstances it isn't advisable to use it this way.
