Installing Aftermarket Brake Controller on a 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 with ITBC

To bypass the factory integrated brake controller (ITBC) on your 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 you will need to access the blunt cut wires under your driver's side dash. Once you have these you can connect your aftermarket brake controller. I recommend going with something like the popular Prodigy P3 # 90195 because of how reliable and easy to use it is. You will connect the following wires from the P3 to the following on your GMC:
Black - Red/Black
White - White
Red - Light Blue/White
You will disregard the dark blue and orange wires. The blue wire from the pigtail for the P3 needs to be connected to the blue wire at the back of the 7-Way trailer connector on your pickup via 12 Gauge Wire # 12-1-1. You also need to make some connections under your hood. I have attached a helpful article that walks you through the exact steps you need to take to perform this installation.
