Can the Thule Doubletrack Be Used For One 55 Lb E-Bike

Question:

Im looking for a carrier that will accomodate a 55 pound ebike. If I only load one bike, would this carrier work. I see the total weight capacity is 70 pounds for two bikes.

The individual cradles on the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack part # TH92BJ are only rated at 35 lbs so although I do have an option for you this one will not work. I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack part # SA4412B which has the same frame mount design as the Doubletrack but will instead allow you to carry a bike up to 60 lbs. It also comes with both a hitch lock just like the Doubletrack.

When it comes to electric bikes, you have to go up a tier in bikes racks as most standard options like the Doubletrack simply won't be able to handle this. The Freedom however will be able to handle this and it is a phenomenal option with included lifetime warranty.
