Your photo did not come through, but I looked up the tow bar you referenced and can tell you based on that it will not connect with the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1146-1. We do have an option that will work for you with these base plates, the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - 2" Ball # RM-501 or StowMaster - 2-5/16" Ball # RM-504.
Otherwise you would need a universal type of tow bar such as the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball # C19745 which comes with universal bumper brackets that mount to a flat, metal section of your bumper, which will require modification.
Along with the baseplates and tow bar, the other parts you will need to flat tow your 1988 Toyota pickup are:
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK
- Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400
You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your '88 Toyota level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter as well as a link to our selection of adapters. Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
