Trunnion Spring Bars On Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System Fall Out During Turns
Question:
Hello, we purchased the Reese strait line WD system and had it installed at a local trailer sales and service center. Setup was correct where the curve of the bar rested above the cam. System worked great until we made a right turn with the truck and Travel trailer that wasn’t super sharp and a trunion bar popped off. Since that one bar has popped off, the bars do not rest correctly, i.e. curve part does not rest over the sham and is now prone to pop off at a turn. It’s not just one side as both bars have come loose.

If the trunnion bars on the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System like part # RP66083 come off during sharp turns then the lift brackets are not in the correct positions. There are two ways to install these lift brackets, with the included set screw or via a self tapping screw. The most likely cause of your issue is that the installer used the set screw and not the self tapping screw therefore the lift brackets are sliding. In order to fix this you will need to secure the lift brackets using the self tapping screw. I have attached the process to do this for you.
