Are Smaller Crossbars Available for Thule TracRac SR to Mount Accessories

Can the Thule TracRac SR use a smaller Cross Bar the will accept most accessories?

Expert Reply:
There is only one crossbar size for the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-501 so you won't be able to install smaller crossbars but Thule recently updated the bars so that the T-Slots are a standard size for T-Slot mounted accessories that you would use on a typical roof rack.
For a similar ladder rack that has crossbars which allow you to use clamp-style accessories you can use the Yakima OverHaul HD which comes with 68" # Y01151-58 or 78" # Y01151-59 Long HD Bars. This has a reduced weight capacity of 500 lbs but the crossbars measure 3" wide x 1-1/2" thick and they use a T-Slot that accepts accessories. The OverHaul HD is height adjustable and if you have a Retrax XR tonneau cover with the Trax Rails installed you can use the Adapter # Y01155 so that the ladder rack can be adjusted back and forth just like the Thule TracRac SR.
