When Should Trailer Tires be Replaced
Question:
I have a 2014 Lance Camper, and I know the tire I would buy when it comes time to replace the tires. Our Lance hasnt seen very many miles, and it is stored in a carport so that the tires dont see any sunshine, so the tires still look great! But I know that tires do still age even if they arent worn out. How many years is a reasonable number of years to expect from a tire that doesnt see very much use? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Trailer tires should be replaced about every 6 or 7 years, even if the tread is still in good shape because they will deteriorate over time. The UV rays are a big part of this but tires can also crack or even dry rot making them dangerous if not replaced. The risk is for leak development but even more than that is the tire coming apart and/or blowing out.
