Cross Bar Recommendation for a Sterling Tow Bar Flat Towing a 2011 Smart fortwo

Question:

I have the original sterling road master not all terrain system with no crossbar. Your ad indicates a need for crossbar with this SMart car setup. Also, My system has the swivel ear tips that appears to require yoke bolt type of set up which the cross bar has. Is the cross bar available and how does it attach to the Ez twist lock system and still be easily twisted so to speak? Please also include price of crossbar and necessary parts. Thanks a lot!

I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he informed me that your Sterling Tow Bar came with a cross bar originally and that you will need a replacement. For that he recommended the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Cross Bar # 910021-00.

The # 910021-00 comes with quick-disconnects that will make connecting and disconnecting from the Roadmaster Base Plate # 52285-1 easy. The quick disconnects basically slide into each other vertically and a pin goes through the top to prevent them from coming apart.

The twist lock system is to remove the arms for when you are not flat towing so as to get them out of plain sight. You would not utilize the twist lock system as a means to separate the base plate kit from the tow bars, that is what the quick disconnects are for.

The price for the # 910021-00 is listed on the product page.

I attached a couple FAQ articles on flat-towing for you to check out also.
